“Dr. Tony Aidoo Pays Tribute to Sam Pee Yalley: A Courageous Leader and Valued Friend”

Dr. Tony Aidoo, Ghana’s former Ambassador to the Netherlands, shared heartfelt memories of his longtime friend, Sam Pee Yalley, who passed away recently. The two men knew each other since 1985 when Yalley was a key figure in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) revolution.

Their friendship deepened during the Jumah Mayali controversy, where Yalley’s niece was allegedly involved with Mr. Kwaw Nkansah Ackah at the State House. Dr. Aidoo and Yalley later reconnected when the former was working at the Flagstaff House as Director of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). Yalley attended Dr. Aidoo’s vetting as Deputy Minister of Defence, showcasing their enduring friendship [6].

Dr. Aidoo described Yalley as courageous and innovative, praising his ability to think outside the box. He expressed sadness over Yalley’s unexpected death following a minor surgery, saying Ghana and the NDC have lost a valuable asset.

Yalley’s impressive career included roles as:
– Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)
– Minister for Environment under President Jerry Rawlings
– Ambassador to India under President John Mahama
