Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, a self-actualized Ghanaian businessman and owner of Elmina Sharks, has expressed his frustration with the poor management of the Ghanaian top-flight league.
The league has struggled with hooliganism, particularly after the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, during a match against Nsoatreman FC.
Dr. Nduom’s concerns were exacerbated by the recent involvement of Elmina Sharks players and supporters in acts of hooliganism against Swedru All Blacks in a Division One match.
He questioned the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), highlighting a potential conflict of interest when club owners hold key positions within the organization.
“The people who run the league, there is a conflict of interest,” Dr. Nduom said. “Why should an owner of a team be President of GFA, why should an owner of a team be a vice-president of the GFA?”
Dr. Nduom’s comments come amid growing concerns about hooliganism in Ghanaian football.
The Ghana Football Association has condemned the acts of violence and lawlessness, imposing a ban on Nsoatreman FC’s home venue and initiating investigations into the incidents.
