Dr. Ibrahim Zuberu Reacts to National Economic Dialogue: “Discipline and Implementation Are Key”

Senior Lecturerin Public Financing Management and Accounting Dr Ibrahim Zuberu has shared his thoughts on the commencement of the National Economic Dialogue, themed “Resetting Ghana: Building the Ghana We Want.”

Speaking to Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM, Dr. Ibrahim Zuberu emphasized that achieving the vision of a better Ghana requires a strong commitment to discipline and effective implementation of policies.

According to Dr. Ibrahim Zuberu, while well-crafted policies are essential, they will yield little impact if their implementation is flawed. “We can have a very beautiful policy, but if its implementation is faulty, we won’t achieve anything.

This dialogue is important, but if the outcomes are just documented on paper without a robust system to guide implementation, it will all be futile,” he remarked.

He also highlighted two major challenges hindering Ghana’s progress: financial constraints and indiscipline. Dr. Ibrahim Zuberu suggested that the success of this initiative depends on the government’s openness to expert advice and collaboration. “If the President is willing to listen and allow experts to guide him on how to generate revenue effectively, solutions can be found,” he stated.

Dr. Ibrahim Zuberu commended the dialogue as a step in the right direction but stressed that its success depends on decisive actions to address the root causes of Ghana’s economic challenges.
