Dr Mahamudu Bawumia while addressing the media and his supporters even before the Electoral Commission (EC) official results revealed that the NPP’s internal collation data showed that former President Mahama had won the presidential election decisively.
The Vice President also stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has earned victory in the parliamentary elections too, although he noted that the collation of some seats was still underway.
Regardless, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the final results from the Electoral Commission would not alter the overall outcome of the elections.
“I have just called His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him as President elect of the Republic of Ghana. I said during the signing of the peace pact that I was sure of two things;- John Mahama Wins Presidential Election
“Ghana will win and peace will reign. The people of Ghana have spoken, people have voted for change at this time and we respect that decision with all humility”, he said.
He was grateful to God Almighty for how far he has brought him and said. “I submit to his will”, he added.
“I am making this concession speech before the official announcement by the EC to avoid further tension and preserve the peace of the country”, he stated.
Dr Bawumia made this declaration on Sunday morning at his residence in Cantonments, Accra in the presence of his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, and other National and Regional NPP Executives.
