“Division Retards Development” — Asiedu Nketiah Tells Kasoa Supporters

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members in Kasoa to set aside internal differences and unite to promote development in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah made the appeal during his Thank You Tour of the constituency, where he addressed party supporters and leaders amid growing concerns over internal disputes within the Kasoa branch of the NDC.

He urged supporters aligned with both the Member of Parliament and the Constituency Chairman to end the ongoing tension that has reportedly affected the local party structure since the December 7, 2024 general election.

The Kasoa branch has been grappling with divisions, with factions forming around the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and the Constituency Chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare.

Party insiders say the dispute has heightened tension within the constituency, raising fears that the division could weaken the party’s unity and affect its electoral strength ahead of future elections.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah cautioned that continued internal wrangling could derail development efforts in the constituency and may even threaten the party’s ability to retain its parliamentary seat in subsequent elections.

“Division retards development,” he stressed, urging party leaders and supporters to bury their differences and work together in unity for the benefit of both the constituency and the party.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, used the occasion to respond to allegations made against her by some party members.

She denied claims that she had withheld job opportunities and appointments meant for party faithful. She also dismissed accusations that she had received funds from the National Chairman and diverted them for personal use.

The MP described the allegations as baseless and calculated attempts to tarnish her image within the party.

She reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people of Awutu Senya East and supporting the NDC’s activities in the constituency.

The Chairman’s visit and message, coupled with the MP’s response, is expected to serve as a turning point as the party works to restore harmony and strengthen its grassroots base in Kasoa.

The NDC leadership has consistently emphasized unity as a key ingredient in safeguarding the party’s future electoral success and promoting development across its strongholds.
