CAF will cancel the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup next year and be replaced by the CAF Super League and the CAF Cup.
The CAF Super League will have 24 teams where they’ll be divided into 3 groups due to their geographical regions.
The proposed format will have 24 teams split into 3 regional divisions:
8 teams from North Africa
8 teams from Central/West Africa
8 teams from Southern/East Africa
The teams will play each other home and away (14 games) with top 5 from each group advancing to Round of 16 + 1
The bottom 3 teams in each division will play a “relegation” playoff against 3 winners of the “CAF Zonal/Confederation Cup”, so there we could potentially see 9 new teams every season
All the following teams have already said “YES” to the CAF Super League:
Mamelodi Sundowns
Zamalek SC
Simba SC
Gor Mahia
Wydad AC
Etoile du Sahel
TP Mazembe
Al Hilal
Power Dynamos
Stade Malien
Djoliba
ASEC Mimosas
