Desmond Ofei Sets Sights on World Cup Qualification
Ghana U-20 head coach Desmond Ofei is determined to lead the Black Satellites to victory at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
The four-time champions are grouped with defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic in Group C.
The tournament kicks off on April 27 and concludes with the final on May 18, 2025. Ofei’s team will aim to progress beyond the group stage, with the ultimate goal of winning the tournament and qualifying for the U-20 World Cup.
“We’ll take it one step at a time,” Ofei said. “Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage. From there, we’ll stay consistent and focused on the process.”
The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed sides, will advance to the quarterfinals.
Ghana aims to reassert its dominance in the competition after recent disappointments.
With a rich history in the tournament, the Black Satellites will draw inspiration from their past successes as they strive for glory.
