Deputy Communications Officer for NDC, Godwin Ako Gunn, has responded strongly to calls suggesting that because the NDC has a majority in Parliament, they should cede the Kpandi parliamentary seat to the NPP. Speaking to Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM, Ako Gunn emphasized that the number of seats or majority held is not the real issue but rather the love and support Ghanaians show to the party in various constituencies, which is why seats like Kpandai consistently go to the NDC. He made it clear that the NDC will not rush or yield that seat to the opposition.
Ako Gunn explained that what truly matters is the voters’ love and their vote in the 2024 elections, which is a reflection of the people’s preference and not just the arithmetic of parliamentary seats. He pointed out that even if the NDC wins many seats nationally, it doesn’t mean some constituencies should be neglected or left behind in development. He cited Bantama as an example, saying the NDC will contest any seat it duly deserves to ensure balanced development across the country.
Further addressing rumors around the Kpandai seat, he rejected claims by the current MP suggesting that anyone wants to snatch the seat from him, insisting that the party remains focused on winning the constituency rather than fighting over unfounded accusations. Ako Gunn’s remarks reaffirm the NDC’s commitment to respecting the electorate’s choices and maintaining democratic competition in all constituencies.
