Deputy Finance Minister-Designate Defends Mahama’s Economic Assessment, Rejects Former Minister’s Criticism

Deputy Finance Minister-designate Thomas Ampem Nyarko has strongly refuted claims by former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam that President John Dramani Mahama’s description of the nation’s finances lacked merit.

Speaking in response to Dr. Amin Adam’s remarks, Nyarko insisted that President Mahama had presented an accurate and honest assessment of the country’s financial situation during his State of the Nation Address.

He emphasized that the economic challenges inherited by the administration, including rising debt levels and struggling state-owned enterprises, were well-documented and could not be dismissed as exaggerated or misleading.

Nyarko criticized the former finance minister for downplaying the severity of the financial crisis, arguing that transparency about the nation’s economic realities is crucial for finding sustainable solutions. He reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing policies that would stabilize the economy and restore confidence among investors and citizens.
