Department of Agric Takes Delivery of Motorcycles from Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly

The Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Honorable Owusu Twum-Ampofo has today 26th April, 2019 led a delegation from the assembly to present ten (10) jungle motorcycles to the Department of Agriculture in the municipality to improve their outreach programmes.

Speaking at the ceremony, the honorable MCE described the gesture from the Nana  Akufo-Addo led NPP administration as a boost to improve agriculture which is the main stay of Ghana’s economy.

He added that, the government is committed in improving the state of agriculture in the country hence the introduction of Planting/Rearing for Food And Jobs, Planting For Export And Rural Development (PERD) and other flagship policies.

Honorable Owusu Twum-Ampofo continued that, more logistical support to both agriculture officers and farmers like fertilizers and farm implements will soon be distributed to them for the smooth realization of the government’s objectives pertaining to agriculture and urged the officers to use the motorcycles for the purpose of which they were procured for.

Receiving the motorcycles, the municipal director agriculture, Mr Charles Bleue, thanked the government for such gesture and promised to make good use of the motorcycles by making every user of the bikes accountable.

He stated that, best maintenance culture is going to be practiced to ensure that the motorcycles last longer to facilitate regular visits to farmers by extension officers to improve agriculture in the municipality and therefore urged the famers to be receptive to their advice for the realization of the set agricultural objectives by government.
