Defeated Assemblyman Aspirant Adukrom Nima in the Ashanti region Nana Adabor Ibrahim Isaah Ampim alias Aponkye has threatened to head to the Supreme Court over his loss on Tuesday’s polls.
Hon Aponkye who took to the streets to jubilate after results of one polling station had been announced, believed the elections were rigged in favour of the winner and will contest them at the highest court of the land.
Speaking after the declaration, the aspirant told press men that he was at a loss as to why he never emerged victorious despite provisional results that put him in a comfortable lead.
“I will go to the Supreme Court because I do not understand why I never won the elections. I suspect the polls were rigged”, he said.
The winner, Hon Abdul Rashid obtained 1056 votes, followed by Hon Maxwell, who received 770 votes. Hon. Iddrisu came third with 486 while the loquacious Aponkye came last with his 234 votes.
Aponkye who quoted article 28 (3) of the 1992 constitution of Ghana to support his statement promised to provide free daily breakfast for the youth in his electoral area if voted into power come December 17th.
He said only Ghc20 cedis worth of corn dough can make a huge bowl of porridge for the youth to have their fundamental human rights guaranteed, with a pack of Lipton tea as an option.
