The government of John Dramani Mahama has done nothing wrong with these directives. He is acting on the grounds of governance and the vision for national development, and it has nothing to do with witch-hunting. The former Ambassador to Sri Lanka and India and Global President for the Professional Forum for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said this on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu.
He believes that the new government, barely one month in office, is right to call for a public audit of public institutions. This is necessary to manage the public wage bill professionally against the new budget, which will be submitted to parliament for consideration. He reiterated that politicizing every national issue is bizarre, and as a nation, we must put our national interest above individual personal interests for national development.
In another development, the Executive Director of the Good Governance Advocacy Group Ghana believes that the past government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a penchant for creating a mess for the new government. The former president of the NPP, John Agyekum Kuffour, carried out a proposal for a single spine and recruitment of people when he was about to exit office. This inadvertently affected the wage bill of the late Prof. Mills administration.
He opined that there is a need to protect the trust and sanctity of all staff by the new government to ascertain the trust and competencies of the new recruitment within a short time. This can be politically motivated and carry out any dastardly act to destroy the vision of the new government.
