President John Dramani Mahama has exhibited good judgment in appointing a capable team, reflecting the manifesto’s vision and the caliber of experienced individuals chosen. The appointees so far demonstrate substance and discipline, aligning with the president’s vision and development agenda.
David Akpaloo, a Policy Analyst and Educationist at Monarch Education, shared these views on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra. He praised the president and the appointment committee for their good judgment in selecting individuals from across the 16 regions of the country, bringing governance expertise to the forefront of national development.
Akpaloo noted that the president has shown strong leadership by placing ministers in appropriate portfolios, considering the population and ensuring they understand the government’s vision. He acknowledged that while some party supporters have high expectations and desires, these must be managed as the government is still new in office. Not everyone can be appointed as a minister; only those with competence and governance expertise should be chosen, rather than relying on emotions.
He condemned youth violence and disturbances, emphasizing that their needs will be met in due time. Moving forward, the president and his team have the opportunity to reshuffle ministerial portfolios to support the government’s efforts in governing and developing the country. Akpaloo suggested that the president could initiate a legacy project in his region to satisfy aggrieved party supporters.
He expressed optimism that the president might consider running some ministries with deputies, allowing chief directors and technocrats to manage certain roles and prevent duplication of duties. Akpaloo believes that the president is on track and that the country will enjoy significant development under his leadership.
