Former Hearts of Oak player Daniel Afriyie Barnieh made his first-ever appearance for FC Zurich in their away defeat to FC Lugano in the Swiss top-flight league on Saturday.
Barnieh made a cameo appearance in his team’s 2-0 away loss to FC Lugano at the Cornaredo Stadium.
Two first half goals from Ignacio Aliseda and Jonathan Sabbatini ensured FC Lugano all the needed three maximum points to move up to fourth place on the Swiss Super League log.
The former U-20 captain was introduced in the 88th minute as a replacement for Jonathan Okita.
Afriyie Barnieh joined FC Zurich from Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak on a three-year deal worth €150,000 in January.
He joined the Swiss Super League side after Black Galaxies’ campaign at the recent 2022 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.
