Ghanaian preacher and author Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has shared a strong spiritual message urging believers to examine where their hearts and desires are focused.
In a recent post, the founder of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC) referenced 1 John 2:15 (KJV), which warns believers against loving the world and the things associated with it.
According to Dag Heward-Mills, excessive focus on worldly possessions, pleasures and achievements can gradually affect a person’s spiritual life.
He explained that when a person’s attention becomes centred on what the world offers, activities that were once considered spiritual blessings may begin to feel like burdens.
“When your eyes are fixed on what the world offers, your spiritual activities start to feel like a burden instead of a blessing,” he wrote.
The preacher further emphasized that allowing the love of worldly things to dominate one’s heart can create a disconnect from one’s relationship with God.
His message comes as a reminder for Christians to regularly examine their priorities and consider whether their pursuit of material or worldly things is affecting their commitment to their faith.
