“The economic engines of so many countries were shut down and are still shut down. Also institutions, commerce and trades are like the cornerstone or foundation of every country and this includes musicians too.”

Ghana’s international reggae superstar Rocky Dawuni has described the Covid-19 pandemic as having affected everyone and everything.

Rocky was speaking to ace presenter Benneth Asiedu aka Okyerefuor on Tema-based radio station Ahotor 92.3 FM’s drive time show, “Ahotor Kwanso.” He indicated that, “The economic engines of so many countries were shut down and are still shut down. Also institutions, commerce and trades are like the cornerstone or foundation of every country and this includes musicians too.”

He further explained that, apart from going to the studio to record, a musician’s livelihood is based on gatherings like concerts and if those are not happening that means the fabric of the business has been ripped apart.

Rocky Dawuni indicated that because of this pandemic all his concerts for this year were cancelled. He added that a lot of his musician friends have gone through this and it will be selfish for him to say he is the only one going through this.

In the meantime, the Grammy nominee is set to release an EP for his fans across the globe.

Rocky Dawuni is currently promoting a single, “Champion Arise” featuring award winning act, Stonebwoy, from his new album, “Beats of Zion”. Rocky has six albums to his credit in his career since his debut album “Crusade,” released in 1998 on his Aquarian Records label. The album featured his smash hit track, “In Ghana.”
