The defamation lawsuit filed by actress Martha Ankomah against comic actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lil Win, has concluded, with the court ruling that Lil Win must pay GHC 300,000.
The settlement was reached following a private hearing held yesterday between the two parties.
The dispute stemmed from a widely circulated video in which Lil Win allegedly made disparaging remarks about Ankomah’s profession. Ankomah, feeling that the comments were harmful and damaging to her reputation, rejected Lil Win’s public apology in December 2024 and opted to pursue legal action instead.
In her lawsuit, Ankomah sought GHC 5 million in damages, compensation for reputational harm, additional damages for the defamatory nature of the comments, as well as a formal apology and retraction of the statements with equal prominence.
After the court proceedings, it was determined that Lil Win would pay GHC 300,000 to Ankomah for defaming her, allegedly because she declined to participate in a film he was producing.
A video of the aftermath shows Ankomah, accompanied by her lawyers, leaving the courtroom with smiles, clearly pleased with the outcome.
