Court Imposes Travel Restrictions on Former Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour-Awuah

A District Court “B” in Sunyani has issued an order restricting the movements of former Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, who also serves as the owner and financier of Nsoatreman Football Club. Under the conditions of his bail, Baffour-Awuah is prohibited from leaving or traveling outside the Sunyani Municipality without prior judicial approval.

This directive follows the court appearance of Baffour-Awuah and two co-accused persons, Agyemang Duah Owusu (his bodyguard) and Joseph Kyeremeh, on Tuesday. The charges against them arise from the fatal incident involving Francis Frimpong, a known supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, which occurred during a violent altercation on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Baffour-Awuah and Kyeremeh have been formally charged with “abetment to commit a crime, to wit, murder” pursuant to Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29). They have each been granted bail in the sum of GH¢500,000, with one surety to be justified. Additionally, the court has directed Baffour-Awuah to surrender his passport to the court registry for a period of 14 days.

Owusu, who faces a charge of murder, has been remanded into police custody. The case has been adjourned, and the accused persons are scheduled to reappear before the court on Monday, February 17, 2025.
