The Ministry of Trade and Industry, K T Hammond has successfully laid the controversial LI seeking to regulate prices of cement in Parliament.
According to the Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza explained the Price Control element has been taken out and in its place price reporting.
According to the Adaklu MP the concerns of MPs and industry players have been addressed.
“Mr. speaker I don’t have any issues with this, the last time the Minister was here colleagues from both sides had very serious concerns that those concerns have been sent back to the committee and have been addressed.
“I am informed that they have dealt with those issues and based on that we advise that it is no longer harmless. So we are okay to support it. What I’ve been told is that it is not about price control, it’s the price control element have been taken out”, he explained.
First deputy speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu who was presiding consequently referred the LI to the subsidiary legislation committee.
The legislation will mature after 21 sitting days of Parliament.
