The 94 hospitals promised by the President Nana Akufo-Addo, according to a Ranking Member of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandor, is a campaign statement, instead of being a way to reduce the infectious corona virus in the country.
MP of Juaboso and Ranking member of the health committee in parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said, the President is using the covid -19 update for his political ambitions.
According to the MP, the NPP promised to upgrade all district hospitals and build one In communities where there are none, but have not shown any sign or fulfilled these promises for the past 3 years of their tenure in office.
“Therefore If you are going to use a year to construct 94 hospitals then it must be subjected to scrutiny’, he said..
He said, he (the President) doesn’t think corona virus is going to exist for an additional year and that the 88 district hospitals and 6 regional hospitals has nothing to do with the virus but as a way to campaign.
He waqrned that, “ it is not going to be business as usual, and the NPP shouldn’t think of just making promises without being scrutinized.
This comment came after the president addressed and updated Ghanaians the 8th time concerning the current pandemic on Sunday 26th April 2020 , as he announced his plans to construct 94 new hospitals in 88 districts and 6 newly created regions.
Reasons being that the new ones can compliment the already existing ones to enhance the delivery of health services to individuals with various complications. These comments by the President has had so many opinions from social media users and some agreeing with Hon. Akandoh whiles others believes the President took the right decision.
