Confusion broke out in Nkwanta South in the Oti Region when National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilantes intercepted a bulldozer and DRIP machines being transported out of the township.
The movement of the equipment from the local Assembly sparked a confrontation between NDC members and assembly workers, resulting in heated exchanges.
According to information gathered by Ahotor News, the bulldozer had been hired by Catholic missionaries based in Kpassa.
The missionaries had paid GHS 9,700 to authorities to use the machine for leveling a parcel of land intended for their project.
The misunderstanding over the purpose and authorization of the equipment’s movement led to the disruption.
The Catholic missionaries have since clarified the arrangement, expressing disappointment over the incident.
To ensure the safety of the equipment, the DRIP machines have been secured at the Nkwanta South Police Station.
Local authorities are yet to provide further comments on the matter.
