CONCERNED DRIVERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (C-DAG) – REGIONAL EXECUTIVES PROPOSED I5% FARE INCREMENT, EFFECTIVE 1st,DECEMBER, 2025

The Regional Executives of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) wish to officially announce a 15% increase in transport fares effective 1st December 2025.

This decision has become necessary due to the continuous rise in the prices of spare parts, lubricants, DVLA charges, and other operational costs that directly impact our work.

Although our mother union, the GPRTU, together with the government, has been duly informed and repeatedly urged to intervene, the situation continues to worsen without any meaningful response.

Despite several press releases and calls from our national executives, the GPRTU, and other transport unions, the cost of spare parts keeps rising sharply.

  • It will be recalled that on 10th September 2025, the GPRTU issued a statement expressing concern over the persistent increase in spare parts prices, yet no concrete action has been taken.

  • Again, on 17th November 2025, the Commercial Transport Operators issued another release lamenting the unbearable hike in spare parts, but still nothing has improved.

In addition, DVLA fees have seen significant increments, and the prices of lubricants and related items continue to soar. These rising costs are crippling our members and making it impossible to operate sustainably.

Furthermore, in the Ashanti Region, drivers continue to face harassment from some military officers over alleged issues of short loading. We strongly condemn these actions as unprofessional and uncalled for.

Since our national leaders have not acted decisively and the situation keeps deteriorating, we, the Regional Executives of C-DAG, have resolved to implement a 15% increment in fares within our various regions to cushion our drivers and sustain our operations.

We call on all stakeholders—passengers, government authorities, and the general public—to understand our plight and support this necessary adjustment.
