The Minister of Communications, Sam Nartey George, has taken a decisive step toward addressing concerns over high internet data costs by setting up a special committee to review data charges imposed by telecommunications companies (Telcos).
The move comes in response to growing complaints from consumers about excessive data costs, which many argue are a burden on students, businesses, and content creators.
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, Sam George emphasized the urgent need for fair and affordable internet pricing, stating that access to data should not be a luxury but a necessity in today’s digital era.
He noted that the current pricing structure affects productivity, limits opportunities for young entrepreneurs, and hampers educational access for students who rely on online resources for learning.
