Reverend Dr. Fred Deegbe, Co-chair of the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to adopt digital technology for the transmission of election results.
He emphasized that digitizing the process from polling stations to collation centers would help minimize delays and reduce the violence often associated with result collation.
Speaking at a post-election review forum, Reverend Dr. Deegbe underscored how the manual collation of results has repeatedly fueled tensions, disputes, and violence in previous elections.
He urged the EC to embrace modern technology that ensures speed, accuracy, and transparency in the electoral process.
The delay in transmitting results creates fertile ground for suspicion and conflict.
He stated that a digitized system will eliminate human errors, reduce delays, and enhance public trust in the outcome of our elections.
