Climate Change: it’s time to mainstream program into University curricular – WASCAL

Ghana is the least contributors to global green house gas emissions but feel the impact of the climate crisis heavily.

West African Scientists are advocating for climate change mainstreaming in University curricular.

According to the West African Science Service Centre on Climate change and Adapted Land use (WASCAL), this is necessary to increase awareness of the causes and potential treatments of climate change.

The impact of climate change on Ghana’s environment and livelihood is reportedly worsening.

Interventions to mitigate it’s effect have not yielded much results, this is largely dependent on ignorance of the cause and how to mitigate it

WASCAL is updating lecturers and researchers knowledge on climate change issues.
The WASCAL Director, Capacity Building Department, Prof. Daouda Kone in an interview with the media said, we cannot sit unconcerned and so it’s time we mainstream climate change issues in curricular.
“when we interacted with lecturers in these areas, the indications are that, it’s not only supposed to be mainstream into the tertiary level, people are thinking we should rather go down to the basic level for they also to understand”.
