Legendary musician and former member of Sapper’s International Band, Collins Wood, has sparked a national conversation with his recent statement on Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee.
During the live discussion, Wood questioned Ghana’s commitment to Christian values, emphasizing the troubling living conditions of many elderly citizens.
“In a country where 90% of the people are Christians, if we truly live by our faith, we shouldn’t be seeing our elderly people in such deplorable conditions,” he stated passionately.
Wood, known for his deep social consciousness in music, further lamented how some elderly Ghanaians, who once contributed immensely to society, are left to struggle in their old age.
He shared that visiting elderly homes is a heartbreaking experience, which is why he is deeply committed to helping the elderly.
“We cannot call ourselves a religious nation if we fail to honour and care for our elderly,” he said.
