Chibsah Warns of Difficult Spell for Albert Amoah in Libya

The Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yusif Chibsah, has expressed concerns about the timing of Albert Amoah’s switch to Libyan club Al Ahli Benghazi.

Amoah’s move, which comes after Asante Kotoko’s heavy 5-1 loss to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup, has raised eyebrows in the local football community.

Chibsah, a former Black Stars midfielder, believes that many Ghanaian players opt for transfers to North African clubs at the wrong time, which can hinder their growth.

“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle,” he cautioned. “I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult,” he added.

Amoah, who signed for Kotoko from Great Olympics last season, had a stellar campaign, registering 16 goals in 30 appearances. He was a consistent attacking threat for the Porcupine Warriors and played a key role in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Chibsah’s comments have sparked debate about the challenges faced by Ghanaian players in North Africa. While Amoah’s talent and determination are not in doubt, the Libyan league’s unique dynamics and competitive nature may pose significant challenges for the young striker.

As Amoah embarks on this new chapter in his career, all eyes will be on him to see how he adapts to his new surroundings.
