Chelsea have been fined £10.75 million by the Premier League following an investigation into historical breaches of league rules, AhotorSports have sighted.

This punishment, which represents the highest fine ever imposed by the Premier League, stems from illicit payments made to agents and other individuals, along with issues related to financial reporting, third-party involvement, and youth development regulations.
The breaches date back to the period between 2011 and 2018 under the club’s previous ownership by Roman Abramovich, and they came to light during the due diligence process when the current American owners acquired the club in 2022.
In addition to the substantial fine, Chelsea have received a one-year transfer ban for first-team player registrations, though this sanction has been suspended for a period of two years. This means the club will avoid serving the ban provided they commit no further relevant breaches during that timeframe; otherwise, the suspension would be lifted and the full one-year restriction enforced.
The club has also been subjected to an immediate nine-month ban on registering or signing new academy players, which applies directly without any suspension and restricts their ability to bring in youth prospects during that window.
Chelsea cooperated with the investigation by self-reporting potential issues, which contributed to reaching a settlement with the Premier League rather than facing a prolonged disciplinary process.
This outcome allows the club to continue their current transfer activities for the first team uninterrupted, while the academy restriction takes effect right away as part of the agreed penalties.
