Chairman Joe’s second-term bid gains support from NDC delegates in Ashaiman

NDC delegates in AshaimanDelegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashaiman Constituency have expressed support for the second-term bid of the Constituency Communication Officer, Joseph Awuku, popularly known as “Chairman Joe”.

Mr Awuku, who also serves as Chairman of Serial Callers and Texters and is a member of the Greater Accra Regional Communication Bureau of the NDC, has been involved in the party’s communication activities and grassroots engagements in the constituency.

During a tour of the constituency, some delegates and party sympathisers told Ahotor News reporter Freedom Lavoe that Mr Awuku deserves another term based on what they described as his performance in promoting the ideals of the party and communicating government programmes.

Some of the delegates, who spoke on condition of anonymity, commended him for what they described as his swift support for needy party members, as well as his commitment to grassroots activities.

Mr Awuku has also gained recognition among some party members for his presence on radio and television, where he has consistently participated in discussions on political and national issues.

Beyond his communication duties, he has also been associated with humanitarian activities aimed at supporting party members and promoting youth participation within the NDC in Ashaiman.

The delegates’ support comes as the party prepares to elect constituency executives across the country ahead of the 2028 general elections. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, October 24.

Mr Awuku, popularly referred to by some grassroots supporters as the “voice of the voiceless”, is seeking to retain the Constituency Communication Officer position and continue his work within the party.

Some delegates said they believe his record and engagement with the grassroots should count in the upcoming contest, while his supporters have expressed confidence in his chances of retaining the position.

When contacted, Mr Awuku expressed optimism about the election and said he was confident of retaining the position to continue propagating the vision and manifesto pledges of the NDC and the government.
