Celtic have sacked Wilfried Nancy just after 33 days in charge, Kwame Ampadu leaves too.

Celtic Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Wilfried Nancy, bringing an abrupt end to his short and turbulent tenure at Parkhead.

The announcement was made through the London Stock Exchange, as required for significant developments at the publicly listed club, confirming his immediate departure following a disastrous run of results that saw only two victories in eight matches under his management.

Nancy, who arrived from MLS side Columbus Crew in early December 2025 with high expectations for implementing an attacking, possession-based style, quickly faced intense pressure.

His time in charge was marked by six defeats, including a humiliating Scottish League Cup final loss to St Mirren and a damaging 3-1 Old Firm defeat to Rangers on January 3, 2026, which intensified fan protests and calls for change.

Despite Nancy’s post-match assertions that the team was “really close” to turning things around, the board acted decisively to relieve him of his duties.

In a related development, Paul Tisdale, the Head of Football Operations who played a key role in Nancy’s appointment and oversaw football strategy, has also left the club. His exit underscores a broader restructuring effort amid the ongoing crisis.

The club expressed gratitude to both Nancy and Tisdale for their contributions, while also extending well wishes to Nancy’s departing assistants—Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen, and Maxime Chalier.

Patrick Kwame Ampadu (born 20 December 1970) is an Irish football coach and former player and was an assistant manager for Celtic under Wilfried Nancy. Ampadu previously served as an assistant to Thierry Henry at Monaco. A midfielder, Ampadu featured for clubs Arsenal, Swansea City, Leyton Orient and Exeter City in his playing career.
