Cedi ends the second week of January, selling at GH¢10.80 per $1

 

Ghana’s local currency, the cedi, is trading at GH₵10.80  against major currencies, notably the US dollar on the interbank market as of Friday, January 16,2026.

Data released by the central bank on Friday, January 16,2026,showed the dollar buying at GH₵10.79 and selling at GH₵10.80.

Other major currencies also recorded slight movements. The euro traded at GH₵ 12.53 and sold at GH₵12.54, while the pound sterling was quoted at GH₵ 14.45 and selling at GH₵ 14.47.

The Bank of Ghana is expected to continue its interventions in the coming months to manage volatility, with market watchers anticipating the potential impact of upcoming Monetary Policy decisions and external inflows on the currency’s performance.

As of Friday,January 16, 2026, the Bank of Ghana reports the cedi trading at GH₵10.80 to the US dollar.

According to its daily update on the Bank of Ghana interbank market:

Dollar – Buying at GH₵10.79,  selling price of GH₵10.80.

British pound was bought at GH₵14.45 and sold at GH₵14.47.

Euro trades at GH₵12.53 and sold at ₵12.54

On January 16, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., some forex bureaus across the country

Dollar – Buying at GH₵11.70 and selling at GH₵12.10.

pound was buying at GH₵15.40 and selling at GH₵16.30.

Euro was buying at GH₵13.40 and selling at GH₵14.30.
