Casemiro Confirms He Will Leave Manchester United When His Contract Expires at the End of the Season

Manchester United have officially confirmed that Casemiro will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the current season in the summer.

Manchester United confirms Casemiro will leave at the end of the season

The Brazilian midfielder, who joined from Real Madrid in a high-profile £60 million transfer back in 2022, has spent four seasons at Old Trafford, during which he made 146 appearances and scored 21 goals while helping the team secure the FA Cup and the English League Cup.

The club decided against activating the one-year extension option included in his deal, meaning the 33-year-old—soon to turn 34—will depart as a free agent.

This early announcement, made in late January, came at Casemiro’s own request to give him ample time to plan his next career step while allowing him to remain fully focused on performing at his best for United during the remaining months of the campaign.

In an emotional message released by the club, Casemiro expressed his deep gratitude and attachment, stating that he will carry Manchester United with him for the rest of his life and referring to himself as a “Forever Red Devil.”

The decision aligns with the club’s ongoing midfield overhaul under the current ownership structure, as his substantial wages—around £350,000 to £430,000 per week—will free up significant funds for potential new signings.
