Carlos Queiroz Dismisses Resignation Rumours After Emotional Social Media Post

An emotional social media message by Ghana Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has sparked widespread debate about his future with the national team.

The message, posted on his Instagram page, read:

“To Ghana, football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn. I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved…”

The post led many Black Stars supporters to believe that Queiroz had resigned from his position following Ghana’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup.

However, on July 10, 2026, Queiroz dismissed the speculation, explaining that the post was intended as a message of encouragement and appreciation to Ghanaians after the Black Stars’ painful exit from the Round of 32. He clarified that it was not a resignation announcement.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also stated that it has not received any formal resignation letter from Queiroz, confirming that he remains the head coach of the Black Stars.

Queiroz was appointed head coach of the Ghana national team on July 13, 2026. Under his leadership, the Black Stars recorded a victory over Panama, drew with England, and suffered defeats to Croatia and Colombia.

Attention has now shifted to the future of the Portuguese coach, with many Ghanaian football fans waiting to see whether the Ghana Football Association will renew his contract ahead of the team’s next assignments.
