CAF President Vows to Tackle Stadium Hooliganism
Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has pledged to address the growing issue of match violence and hooliganism in African stadiums.
Recent incidents, including a deadly clash in Guinea and a confrontation between Esperance and Mamelodi Sundowns fans, have highlighted the need for action.
“We are steadfastly committed to ensuring that stadiums are safe spaces,” Motsepe said.
He emphasized that CAF views any injury or death at a stadium as unacceptable and is taking steps to improve safety measures.
CAF is conducting a thorough review of international best practices to enhance stadium safety across Africa.
The organization is engaging with experts worldwide to study proven methods for maintaining order and safety during matches.
Motsepe assured that CAF is determined to create safer environments for spectators. “The determination and the commitment are very deep and steadfast,” he said, emphasizing the organization’s resolve to tackle stadium violence.
