Winners of Ghana, FC Samartex 1996, defeated Victoria United 1-0 in the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to guarantee their spot in the CAF Champions League’s final qualifying round.
Isaac Afful’s strike proved to be the game-winning goal, sealing his team’s hard-fought victory. This triumph comes one week after a 1-0 victory in the first leg at the Douala Omnisport Stadium.
FC Samartex 1996 is back in the famous continental competition, having advanced to the second preliminary round with a 2-0 aggregate score.
They had a clean sheet against the Chadian side in both matches, which was largely due to their strong defence and tactical discipline.
An important milestone in FC Samartex’s history, the win moves the team one step closer to the CAF Champions’ League group stages.
