CAF Approves Ghana FA’s CAF Licence ‘A’ Coaching Course Under New Convention
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has received approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to run Licence “A” Coaching Courses in Ghana under the new CAF Coaching Convention.
This milestone marks the final step in the GFA Technical Directorate’s efforts to align with CAF’s revised coaching standards, following months of curriculum development and institutional readiness.
The upcoming CAF A Licence course will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with a high selection standard that limits each class to only 20 candidates. To be eligible, applicants must:
– Have completed the CAF B Licence and held that qualification for at least two years
– Show proof of active coaching and provide documentation from their current clubs
– Submit a written statement outlining their motivation
Priority will be given to full-time coaches working in:
– Ghana Premier League
– Women’s Premier League
– Division One League
– Regional Football Associations
– National teams
A final selection will follow interviews, and only successful applicants will be required to pay the course fees.
The CAF A Licence course is designed to enhance participants’ technical and tactical knowledge, preparing them for senior coaching roles and eligibility for the CAF Pro Licence in the future. The one-year course includes:
– Four residential modules
– 120-day supervised internship
– Advanced coaching themes, such as:
– In- and out-of-possession tactics
– Game trends
– Positional coaching
– Player management
The approval of the CAF Licence “A” Coaching Course is a significant step forward in Ghana’s coaching development strategy, as outlined by the GFA Executive Council.
This initiative aims to produce highly qualified coaches who can lead Ghanaian teams to success in international competitions.
