As the Tema West Constituency NDC Chairman, and in the lead-up to the crucial 2024 general elections, it became essential for him to strategically reflect on the 2020 general elections, which the party narrowly lost by 2,000 votes.
As a matter of urgency, Chairman Mohammed led the constituency executive team to marshal resources from all fronts and implement strategies that enabled the registration of nearly 8,000 new voters during the first registration window. This effort significantly contributed to the party winning six out of eleven electoral areas in the recent District Assembly elections.
Furthermore, despite the frustrations and intimidation allegedly orchestrated by the NPP government, coupled with what the party described as the actions of some corrupt Electoral Commission officials aimed at disenfranchising eligible voters during the limited registration exercise, the strategies deployed by his constituency executive team resulted in over 3,000 new registrations in Tema West. Chairman Mohammed personally monitored the process daily until the last eligible voter was registered.
As a persuasive leader, during the 2024 campaign season, Chairman Mohammed urged party members and supporters across the length and breadth of Tema West to maintain momentum, while the constituency executive team put in place mechanisms to protect their votes. His pledge to lead the NDC to victory in the Tema West Constituency—long dominated by the NPP for 28 years—has been fulfilled.
