Brandon Thomas-Asante Disappointed Over Unity Cup Final Miss

Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed frustration after the Black Stars failed to reach the final of the 2025 Unity Cup in London. Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the semifinal at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday night.

Thomas-Asante, who plays for Coventry City, scored a consolation goal for Ghana but couldn’t prevent the team’s elimination. “To be fair, on a personal note, I’m a little bit frustrated because I’m Jamaican as well, so I would have liked to do that one [play Jamaica in the final],” he said, hinting at the intriguing matchup he would have loved to feature in.

Despite the disappointment, Thomas-Asante emphasized the team’s determination to bounce back and secure a positive result in the third-place playoff against Trinidad and Tobago.

“In terms of playing against Trinidad and Tobago, you know, we go out there, the same attitude as always, try and win the game and put things right, which is what we want to do,” he added.

Ghana will face Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place match, scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT. Thomas-Asante and the Black Stars will aim to end their Unity Cup campaign on a high note.
