Controversial commentator Bongo Ideas has taken a sharp swipe at Ghana’s so-called “international artiste,” questioning the gap between the superstar’s global claims and his actual streaming performance.
According to Bongo Ideas, the latest Spotify Ghana monthly listeners update came with a big surprise — the self-proclaimed global heavyweight was reportedly absent from the top 10. He didn’t hold back, asking how an artist who constantly name-drops Jamaican icons like Spice, Beenie Man, and other Caribbean giants could miss such an essential chart.
Bongo Ideas further poked fun at the artist’s streaming power, suggesting that most of his numbers might be coming from Audiomack, a platform known for its heavy presence in West Africa. He humorously added that even India appeared to be giving the artist more streaming support than his home country.
The commentary didn’t stop there. Bongo also highlighted how despite bringing a Jamaican dancehall queen to Ghana for a major collaboration, the highly publicised song has still not crossed 2 million streams, nor topped any significant chart. The playful jab at the artiste’s attempt at patois — referring to him as “Atofo Kɛseɛ with the fake patois” — has sparked laughter and debate across the entertainment space.
However, in a rare moment of balance, Bongo Ideas acknowledged that the artiste — widely assumed to be Stonebwoy by many commenters — remains undeniably talented, adding that “the bragging is just louder than the numbers.”
As usual, the post has divided fans online, with some agreeing that the stats don’t match the hype, while others argue that streaming numbers don’t define an artist’s influence or legacy.
