Black Stars to Face Top European Team in Friendly Ahead of 2026 World Cup – Henry Asante Discloses

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars will play a high-profile friendly match against a prominent European team next year as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia. Their World Cup campaign will kick off against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by a clash with England on June 23 in Boston, and conclude against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum revealed that several European teams had expressed interest in playing Ghana even before the World Cup draw.

“We are likely to have a highly European-friendly. Even before the draw, we had received some requests from some of the big houses… we will look at all possibilities and choose the one that benefits us most,” he said.

The Black Stars are looking to progress beyond the group stage in North America, having exited at the group stage in Qatar four years ago.
