Black Stars Gear Up for 2026 World Cup with Austria Friendly

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the Black Stars will face Austria in an international friendly match on March 27, 2026, at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, kicking off at 17:00 GMT.

This match is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The friendly against Austria is a crucial test for coach Otto Addo’s team, providing an opportunity to fine-tune tactics and build squad cohesion ahead of the tournament. Ghana has already secured qualification and is in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. Austria, ranked 25th, is in Group J with Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan.

Three days later, Ghana will face Germany in Stuttgart on March 30, 2026, in their second March friendly.

These matches will help Ghana assess squad depth and tactical readiness for the World Cup, which kicks off in June 2026. The Black Stars’ campaign begins against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, followed by matches against England and Croatia.
