Ghana women’s national football team, popularly known as the Black Queens, are expected to wrap up their training camp in the United Arab Emirates after their final Pink Ladies Cup fixture against Tanzania women’s national football team on Friday, following the rescheduling of the next edition of the continental championship.
The Confederation of African Football announced on Thursday that the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco, will no longer be held between 17 March and 3 April 2026 as initially planned.
After consultations with FIFA and other key stakeholders, the tournament has been moved to 25 July to 16 August 2026.
The decision comes while the Black Queens are on a preparatory tour in the UAE, where they have been participating in the Pink Ladies Cup as part of their build-up to the continental showpiece.
Ghana has enjoyed an impressive run in the tournament so far, recording emphatic 4–0 victories over Hong Kong women’s national football team and Russia women’s national football team, results that have boosted confidence within the squad.
However, the team’s departure from Sharjah remains uncertain after authorities suspended air transport operations in parts of the region amid escalating tensions.
Players and officials are currently awaiting clearance and travel arrangements that will allow them to safely leave the country after Friday’s clash with Tanzania.
Despite the logistical uncertainty, the camp has provided valuable preparation for the Black Queens as they continue to rebuild momentum following their impressive campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana secured a third-place finish in Morocco.
