Black Queens Coach Unveils 23-Player Squad for Senegal Training Tour Ahead of WAFCON

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has announced a 23-player squad for the team’s training tour of Senegal, which commenced on April 1, 2025, and will run until April 9.

The tour is a crucial preparation phase for the team’s upcoming WAFCON campaign, featuring intensive training sessions and two friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar.

The squad includes the return of several experienced players, such as midfielders Ernestina Abambilla and Patience Peterson-Kundok, defender Phillicity Asuako, and forward Princess Owusu, who have strengthened the team after a brief absence from international duty. A notable selection is Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper Grace Buoduwa Banwaa, who earns her first call-up to the senior national team. Banwaa has been in exceptional form in the Women’s Premier League, recording 12 clean sheets and conceding just one goal in 15 league matches.

With WAFCON fast approaching, the training camp provides the Black Queens an opportunity to fine-tune tactics and assess squad depth.

The upcoming friendlies against Senegal will be crucial in evaluating the team’s readiness as they aim for a strong impact at the continental tournament.

The matches will serve as a litmus test for the team’s preparations, allowing Coach Björkegren to make necessary adjustments before the WAFCON kick-off.

The 23-player squad includes:
