Ghana’s Black Queens Swede coach, Kim Lars, was in attendance to scout the performance of former Black Princesses star, Sharon Sampson, in the Swedish Cup.
Sampson’s club, Piteå, secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Alingsås, with the Ghanaian forward playing a key role in the win.
Coach Lars, who is tasked with assembling a strong squad for the Black Queens’ upcoming international assignments, was keen to assess Sampson’s form and fitness. The Swedish Cup match provided an ideal opportunity for Lars to witness Sampson’s abilities firsthand.
Sampson, who has previously represented Ghana at the U-20 level, has been making waves in the Swedish league with her impressive performances.
Her display against Alingsås would have undoubtedly caught Coach Lars’ attention, as she demonstrated her skills, speed, and work rate throughout the match.
The Black Queens are set to participate in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco in August.
Coach Lars will be looking to assemble a strong and formidable squad, and Sampson’s performance in the Swedish Cup may have boosted her chances of earning a call-up to the national team.
Kim Lars’ first game in charge as Black Queens head coach saw him lose 1-0 to the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in Casablanca last week.
