Ghana’s Black Galaxies have left for Nigeria for the reverse fixture in the playoffs for the 2025 African Nations Championship purposely designed for home based players.

Black Galaxies held by Nigeria in CHAN2025Q First Leg in Accra to a goalless draw on Sunday leaving them a mountain of task to climb in the second leg in Oyo on Saturday.

The Super Eagles B are brimming with confidence and of high spirit ahead of the crucial encounter relieving inspirations from the last clash of the same fixture in September 2023 where they recorded 2-0 victory over the Ghanaians.

The regional rivals will be counting on the home crowd for their support as they face the relative small nation in terms of population over the weekend.

Super Eagles B coach Daniel Ogunmodede speaking ahead of the game:

“On Saturday, we will approach the game like our lives depend on it. Our watchword is getting the win that will qualify us for the African Nations Championship finals coming up in East Africa. Our objective was to score an away goal in Accra but that did not happen”.

“As much as possible, we will try to keep a clean sheet but I want to believe that we will surely score. We will score, we will open up something. I control the energy, the effort, I control the performance (of my boys) but the results, we don’t control it”, he said in post match presser.

Ghana will need any score draw or score of goal advantage to qualify for the CHAN for the second consecutive time in four years.

Ghana hasn’t won the CHAN despite competing in two finals in the 2009 and 2014 editions.

The second leg takes place on December 28 in Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The winner will qualify for the 2025 CHAN tournament, which is set to be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February.
