Björkegren Names Black Queens’ Final Squad for 2026 WAFCON in Morocco

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has officially named the Black Queens’ final 25-player squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Swedish tactician trimmed his earlier provisional list of 27 by omitting defenders Ernestina Abambila and Louisa Aniwaa, while retaining a balanced mix of seasoned campaigners and fresh faces.

Captain Portia Boakye leads the side, joined by experienced figures such as Grace Asantewaa, Cynthia Konlan, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Princella Adubea.

Several players will make their tournament debut, including Huzeima Osman, Abena Anoma Opoku, Alexandra Tay, Benedicte Simon, Linda Owusu Ansah, Sharon Sampson and Ajegipina Zakaria, with all home-based selections from the provisional squad also securing places.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D and will open their campaign against Cape Verde on 29 July, before facing Cameroon on 2 August and Mali on 6 August, with all three matches scheduled at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
