Björkegren Announces 22-Player Squad for June Training Camp

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has named a 22-player squad for the team’s June camping programme, which will take place during the FIFA international window.

This comes as preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations continue to intensify, with the camp forming a vital part of the technical team’s long-term strategy to build a competitive side capable of challenging for continental honours.

During the training camp, the Black Queens are expected to play a couple of international friendly matches. These fixtures will provide valuable match practice against foreign opposition and allow the coaching staff to test different combinations and tactical approaches in real-game situations.

The presence of both experienced campaigners and promising young talents in the squad reflects a deliberate effort to blend maturity with fresh energy, helping the team improve its overall chemistry while gradually strengthening the depth of the group.

This June programme builds on the Ghana Football Association’s ongoing commitment to keeping the Black Queens active and competitive in the lead-up to WAFCON 2026. By ensuring regular training camps and exposure to international football, the GFA aims to avoid the lengthy periods of inactivity that have sometimes affected the team in the past.
