The Chancellor of the University of Gold Coast, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, has emphasized the urgent need for a long-term economic strategy to ensure Ghana’s sustainable development.
He stressed that short-term economic fixes are insufficient to address the country’s structural challenges and called for a comprehensive blueprint that guarantees stability and prosperity for future generations.
Speaking to Ahotor News at the inauguration of the University of Gold Coast Council and Board of Trustees, Bishop Dr. Titi-Ofei highlighted the critical role of visionary leadership in shaping economic policies.
He urged policymakers, business leaders, and academics to collaborate in designing strategies that prioritize industrialization, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.
He further noted that without a clearly defined long-term economic framework, Ghana risks experiencing cycles of economic instability, which could hinder growth and social progress.
He called on the government to adopt policies that strengthen key sectors such as education, infrastructure, and agriculture, ensuring a resilient and self-sufficient economy.
The inauguration event served as a platform for discussions on leadership, governance, and economic sustainability, with Bishop Dr. Titi-Ofei reinforcing the need for institutions like the University of Gold Coast to play a leading role in driving national development through research and policy advocacy.
