Binduri: Newly elected PM assaulted over rejection of DCE nominee

Tensions flared in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region following the rejection of the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Amidst the chaos, the newly elected Presiding Member, who doubles as the Assemblyman for Kaadi Electoral Area, Samuel Azure, was brutally assaulted.

Reports by Accra-based Ahotor FM indicate that the attack occurred after the DCE nominee failed to secure the required two-thirds majority of assembly members’ votes.

However, it is not immediately clear why Mr. Azure was the target of the attack, with the culprits yet to be identified.

With no arrests made, the Binduri District Assembly is also yet to announce the next line of action following the failed confirmation.
