Here is the full statement by the MP
My attention has been drawn to some fraudulent activities on social media under the guise of my office and my good self. According to my sources, these fraudsters clone Facebook accounts in my name Hon. Alban S. K Bagbin and start sending friends’ requests to their unsuspecting and vulnerable prey. When the victims accept their friend’s request, these fraudsters then invade the inboxes of the victims with job offers and other proposals and lure them to pay huge sums of money as facilitation fees.
Please be informed that I do not go around looking for people to help on social media neither do I accept any money or gift before helping people who come to my office seeking various kinds of assistance.
The general public is hereby advised to beware of such cyber fraudsters and stay away from these frauds. Such fake Facebook accounts should be reported to Facebook for the appropriate steps to be taken against them. Individuals should also report to the Police if and when they encounter these frauds.
Thank you
Signed
Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin
Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament/ MP, Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency
